In the foothills of Kulen Mountain, the Bos Thom Community Forest spans 1,100 acres of safeguarded woodland, once home to the elephants of Angkor. For over two decades, these elephants provided rides to tourists at the temples within this UNESCO World Heritage site. Currently, they enjoy the freedom of their natural environment, serving as a poignant symbol of a world in transition.
With only 75 captive elephants remaining in Cambodia, the need for their protection is more urgent than ever. A visit to the Kulen Elephant Forest not only supports the elephants of Angkor but also contributes to the welfare of all elephants in Cambodia through the long-term goals of the KEF. We are committed to harnessing the potential of education and tourism as vital tools for conservation.
