Siem Reap Sanctuaries - ACCB

ACCB focuses on the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of indigenous wildlife in Cambodia. This mission is pursued through various methods, including the conservation breeding of specific globally endangered species, environmental education initiatives that enhance conservation capacity, and in-situ conservation efforts alongside research.
The organization’s veterinary staff rehabilitates injured animals, while also offering refuge to around 100 native species listed as endangered. A notable example of ACCB’s work is the collaborative project with Fauna and Flora International, which involved the assessment of amphibian collection and trade in Cambodia in 2010.

Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation
Most animals in the rescue center come from illegal trade. These animals get checked for injuries and diseases, usually followed by a quarantine to start the recovery process and avoid the transmission of diseases. After sufficient recovery time, the animals are ready to be released again in their natural habitat.
Conservation and Breeding of Threatened Species
Animals that are not fit to be released or belong to an endangered species may be transferred to the breeding section. This with two goals in mind: establishing a population of the endangered species in captivity; Or producing offspring for later reintroduction.
Environmental Education
It’s important to involve and educate both locals and tourists about environmental conservation and the issues facing Cambodia’s wildlife. The ACCB tries to do this by setting up seminars and workshops; information sessions at schools and rural villages and setting up eco-tourism projects.
Location & How to Get There
The ACCB is situated at the historic location of Kbal Spean, approximately 42 kilometers northeast of Siem Reap, which can be reached in about an hour by tuk-tuk. To reduce stress for the animals, the visiting hours are restricted to two guided tours each day, from Monday to Saturday, commencing promptly at 9 am and 1 pm. Each tour lasts around 1 hour and 30 minutes.
As a registered non-profit organization, the ACCB kindly requests a minimum donation of USD 3 per person. All contributions are allocated directly to the care and treatment of the animals.
